Chanika

A character I played on The Lion King MUCK from September 2005 to May 2006.

Chanika is a juvenile Lioness, born to Balana by Chiboa. Third-born of the litter, she has three brothers, Kizingo, Tahlili, and Mzohari, to contend with, as well as King Tahzhoo's youngsters, the other cubs of the pride. She also had a significantly older sister, the adolescent Lioness Haiba who was adopted into the Uzima pride.

Chanika from early on was especially close to her mother and to her brother Kizingo, who she adored. As a juvenile nearing adolescence, she sulked about her family member's wandering, and herself first stubbornly refused to leave her home territory, before presumably striking out on her own, rather than reconnecting with any of her kin.

Name: Chanika means "to be ragged" in Swahili. I prounce it [ Chan - ee- kah ] and stress the middle of the name.

Chanika's Description:

Chanika is a sturdy young Lioness, not long out of cubhood. Now a juvenile, she continues to have the fluffed edging of youth and something of a cute, innocent look remains. There isn't much delicate to her, although she is a little more proportionate than she was in earlier months.
    Her tail is a reasonable length, if not quite as long as it should eventually be, and has a darker tuft at the end. Most of her pelt is a dry-grass tawny liberally scattered with ruddy spots, these blotches a deeper brown along her back. In relative contrast, her underside is a pale cream, an even lighter shade up on her throat. Under her mottled nose there is a tinge of white, and this touches elsewhere on her face as well. Her wide eyes are a variegated hazel, with dark corners, tiny streaks of red-brown, and a glimpse of silver around her pupils.
